Support at Home

The Governments' Support at Home program is designed to assist people to continue living at home as they age and provide a real alternative to nursing home accommodation for many people.  This program replaced the previous Home Care Package program on 1 November 2025.

The funding can be used to purchase a wide range of services to enable you to maintain independence and safety in your home, subject to the services being approved by an independent Single Assessment organisation.  And you choose the mix of services that are best for your particular circumstances from those approved.  

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing sets the rules for what can and what cannot be purchased through the Government funding.

You can decide to top up the funds provided by the Government or purchase additional support if you feel it is needed.  Services Australia assesses whether you are required to pay a means tested contribution toward your services.
